Don’t Fall Asleep: The Untold Nancy Thompson Story (2016)
Don’t Fall Asleep: The Untold Nancy Thompson Story explores the untold chapter between A Nightmare on Elm Street and Dream Warriors, continuing Nancy Thompson’s story in the years we never saw on screen.
Written by Paige Troxell and Diandra Lazor, the film was produced by Paige Troxell, Kim Gunzinger, Diandra Lazor, and Anthony Brownlee.
It holds a unique place in fan film history as the first to feature an original star from the source material, with Heather Langenkamp reprising her role as Nancy through voice over narration from inside the Beautiful Dream.
The film premiered to a standing room only crowd at the sold out Days of the Dead convention in Louisville, Kentucky in 2016, before being released for free on YouTube.
This project represents the very beginning of what would eventually become Venn Pictures… and it shows.
The filmmaking, the technical execution, and the overall skill level reflect where the team was at the time. It is raw, dated, and very much a product of creators who were still learning.
Don’t Fall Asleep remains an important foundation… the place where the creative partnership that would become Venn Pictures truly began… and we will forever cherish it.
