Can’t Escape the Moonlight: How Buffy Saved a Generation is a feature documentary currently in development, exploring the lasting cultural impact of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the generation of fans who found identity, strength, and belonging within its story.
Developed by Venn Pictures, the project brings together a growing team of producers and collaborators who share a deep connection to the series and its legacy. The film is being developed in collaboration with producer Rob Alicea of Leaving Normal Productions, whose work spans independent film and character-driven storytelling, and Mike Maniaci, Executive Producer of STANS on Paramount+, known for his work in music and documentary production at a high level.
The team also includes Emmy Award-winning producer Heather Rose Wagner, alongside a collective of creatives and contributors who are helping shape the vision of the film from both a fan and industry perspective.
At its core, the documentary is not just about a television series… it’s about the people who grew up with it. Through personal stories, cultural reflection, and behind-the-scenes insight, the film aims to explore how Buffy the Vampire Slayer became more than entertainment… it became something people carried with them.
